first_img Jacobi Owens The Odessa Police Department charged a man Saturday after he reportedly assaulted his girlfriend and threatened her with a knife on multiple occasions.Police first responded to the incident on New Year’s Eve in the 1300 block of Bonham Avenue, an OPD press release said, in reference to an incomplete 911 call.Upon arrival, officers made contact a 19-year-old female who told police she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, 20-year-old Jacobi Owens, the release detailed.The release stated Owens had become angry at his girlfriend because she had refused to give him money, and damaged her phone to prevent her 911 call. Owens also reportedly threatened his girlfriend with a knife on two separate occasions.After placing a warrant for Owens’ arrest, officers found him around 10 p.m. Saturday in the 1300 block of Bonham Avenue in reference to a wanted subject, the release said.Officers then located Owens, who was also found to be in possession of cocaine, the release detailed.Owens was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, and possession of cocaine, a state jail felony.Jail records show Owens was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Sunday and has three bonds totaling $53,500.
