Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad police have arrested a youth for allegedly abducting a civil engineer and his teenage daughter and demanded Rs 1.3 crores from their family. Police used a GPS tracker and dummy notes to trace the kidnapper.According to police, the arrested accused has been identified as Avneet Singh Ahluwalia (20), a resident of Ajnara Landmark society in sector 4 of Vaishali. Cops said that the accused is a student at Delhi University and he confessed to have committed the crime to earn quick money for a lavish lifestyle. The alleged kidnapping incident occurred on Sunday morning when engineer Kunal (50) and his daughter Shruti (17) had left for temple on a motorcycle when they were kidnapped by the youth. “Kunal’s wife Asha received a call from the kidnapper demanding a ransom of Rs 50 lakh in order to get them released. The kidnapper also called Kunal’s two sisters demanding Rs 50 lakh and Rs 30 respectively, for the father-daughter duo’s release,” said Sudhir Kumar Singh, SSP, Ghaziabad. However, Asha informed about the matter to police and police have a bag with dummy currency notes, fitted with a GPS tracker to Asha to reach to the kidnapper, the officer added. Police arrested the kidnapper from his flat in Vaishali sector 4 area through the GPS tracker.
