Photo: Ahmed ZayeefThe physicians carried out a surgery on the Feni madrasa girl on Tuesday to make her lungs functional.”We have conducted the operation keeping her on life support,” Brigadier General Nasir Uddin, a director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), told newsmen at the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of DMCH on Tuesday.Nasir Uddin said the burned girl is facing a number of complications.Alongside blood and lung infection, she has developed problems in her kidney.He said they were trying to provide the girl the best treatment.”We hope the girl will survive. He requested the countrymen to pray for her,” Nasir Uddin added.Quoting Singapore physicians, he said she could not be taken abroad for treatment in such a critical condition.On Saturday, the student had gone to Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa to take the Alim examination. She was set on fire after being tricked into going to the roof of the madrasa. On 27 March, the student’s mother filed a case against the principal on charges of sexually abusing her daughter. The student was set on fire as she refused to withdraw the case against the principal. She was admitted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition.last_img
